Transcripts and books of evidence used in the trials of five men at the Special Criminal Court are "intensely relevant" to a civil action being brought against them in the North by victims of the 1998 Omagh bombing, the Supreme Court heard today.

Relatives of the Omagh bomb victims today began an action in the Special Criminal Court in Dublin seeking documentation to help their £10m (€15.1m) claim against those suspected of carrying out the 1998 atrocity.

A Monaghan man who is being sued by relatives of the victims of the Omagh bombing was jailed for three and a half years at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today for membership of an illegal organisation, namely the Real IRA.
