A woman who was sexually abused and raped by her brother-in-law has asked how the abuse continued when he was “supposedly fixed” after a priest directed him to get counselling.

“Recovery is ongoing. I have a brain injury, I am a quarter blind in both eyes, I have vertigo, a damaged left knee and right ankle, reduced hearing in my left ear and also had a damaged coccyx. But I never give up.” 

The woman who died in a head-on road collision on Monday night will be buried with her unborn daughter today following a funeral Mass in the church where she got married just last year.
