A number of ‘features’ that require further archaeological investigation have been discovered at the site of the Sunday’s Well Magdalene Laundry in Cork.

The receiver appointed to the building that caught fire in Cork this morning, has said it is being assessed by insurers and the building control unit of Cork City Council.

The fire at the former orphanage and Magdalene laundry in Cork is now “under control”, Garda Superintendent Con Cadogan said this morning.
