Ireland’s eventers booked their place in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics yesterday when finishing sixth and securing the last qualifying place at the Alltech World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Normandy, France.

NUMBERS were better than expected yesterday at the opening of the Millstreet Horse Show All-Ireland Championships, as many of the show jumping fraternity defied the threat of sanction by the sport’s national governing body to attend the Cork event.

CONOR SWAIL travels to Millstreet this week for its annual horse show hoping he can continue the run of form that has seen him challenge for the Citroen ShowjumpingIreland Premier Series.
