At least 10 files have been sent to the director of public prosecutions (DDP) by the gardaí after people allegedly identified Ana Kriegel’s murderers on social media.

The father of one of the boys accused of murdering Anastasia Kriegel said his son "is not capable of doing anything like that" and said the boy lied to gardaí and his parents because he was afraid of his co-accused.

One of the boys accused of murdering Ana Kriegel told gardaí Ana was a "lonely" girl who was "outcasted" and he thought of her as a "weirdo, somebody who I should not be around," the Central Criminal Court has heard.

A boy who said he had been beaten up in a woods in the park where Anastasia Kriegel was last seen looked "like a rabbit caught in the headlights" and wouldn't engage, a park ranger has told the trial of the two boys accused of her murder.
