Permission for a 608-house development in Cork has been approved by An Bord Pleanála, under new strategic housing development (SHD) guidelines designed to fast-track new homes and student apartments to tackle the housing crisis.

Plans for over 10,000 homes, apartments, and student bed spaces have been put before An Bord Pleanála by developers seeking to take advantage of new fast-track planning rules in a four- month period.
