Police in the North are investigating after petrol and paint bombs were thrown during unrest in Derry last night.

Soldiers opened fire in Derry on Bloody Sunday after automatic gunfire was heard, the Saville Inquiry was told today.

A man claimed today he heard gunfire in the minutes after Bloody Sunday which he believed was ‘‘the IRA having a go’’.
