Several thousand anti-austerity protesters in Spain have marched down a major road in Madrid banging pots and pans.

Thousands of Spanish farmers took to the streets of Madrid today, protesting at the low prices they receive for their products and saying commercial middle men take too high a cut.

Firefighters shot jets of water onto one of Madrid’s tallest office buildings this morning, fighting to control a blaze that burned all night and threatened to bring down the 32-story skyscraper.
