The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a further appeal by a young man over his conviction for the murder of his mother in a frenzied knife attack.

Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy said today he was saddened by the deaths of one of his officers and a teenager in a horrific head-on car crash in north Mayo today.
