Tens of thousands of people from around the world hurled tons of ripe tomatoes at each other yesterday in an annual food fight that leaves the Spanish town of Bunol covered in red juice.

Spanish revellers today pelted each other with 113 tons of ripe tomatoes in an annual food fight.

ABOUT 40,000 Spaniards gathered in the eastern town of Bunol yesterday to hurl 115,000kg of tomatoes at each other in the annual Tomatina festival.

Tens of thousands of revellers spattered each other with juicy, red tomatoes today in one of Spain’s most popular summer festivals – La Tomatina.
