The death toll from the devastating tornadoes that hit America’s south climbed to 337 today, making it the second-deadliest day for a tornado outbreak in US history.

At least 291 people have been killed across six states – more than two-thirds of them in Alabama – in America’s deadliest tornado outbreak in almost four decades.
