The way has finally been cleared for the construction of 147 social and affordable homes on Cork’s northside on county land earmarked for transfer to the city.

Over 400 homes to begin being constructed by May on 18 sites. The development plan is part of €97m investment in social housing.

There have been calls for a review of pedestrian crossing times in Cork City following complaints that people aren’t being given enough time to cross some of its busiest roads.

Cork is set to get a €50m slice of social housing funding announced by the Government yesterday.
