A fed-up whale watcher has rescued two pilot whales which had been left to die on a Co Donegal beach.

All 13 members of a pod of long-finned pilot whales which live-stranded on a beach in Co Donegal yesterday morning have died despite the best efforts of locals to save them.

Hopes were fading for the survival of any members of a pod of pilot whales beached off Co Donegal.
