A civil servant at the Department of Social Protection has been jailed for a year. He was caught selling the personal details of hundreds of people to private investigators probing insurance claims.

A 30-year-old mystery was solved at a Coroner’s inquest in Letterkenny in Co Donegal yesterday when DNA established that the body of a man washed ashore in 1983 is a direct relative of local man James McGlynn, whose brother went missing at that time.

TISSUE taken from a body washed up on a beach is to be analysed in an effort to unlock a 28-year-old mystery.
