A Garda witness in the case of a man on trial for membership of the IRA has denied that he and his colleagues decided to "do" the accused for membership, when they found no firearms in his possession.

Senior Garda detectives have told the Special Criminal Court that a man on trial for membership of the IRA had been under surveillance for several hours before his arrest.

The Special Criminal Court has heard that items regularly used to make pipe-bombs were discovered at the home of a man on trial for membership of an unlawful organisation.
