Ireland’s Aileen Reid admitted to some disappointment after finishing sixth in the women’s triathlon in the inaugural European Games in Baku today.

Olympic champion Katie Taylor has been chosen as Team Ireland’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony for the 1st European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, tomorrow.

Azerbaijan will take its place on the Formula One calendar in 2016 as the new Grand Prix of Europe.

The International Olympics Committee has urged the BBC to hand over any further evidence it may have regarding allegations that large amounts of money were paid out in an attempt to ensure boxers from Azerbaijan received gold medals at the 2012 Olympics.
