Marts: A top price of €1,150 was paid for a weanling bull in a strong farmer trade at the annual weanling show and sale at Athenry Mart.

THERE has been very little shift in the prices for lambs at the factories from early last week, with most quoting unchanged prices, at 347 cent/kg (124p/lb).

A top price of €2,000 was paid for a 570 kgs continental heifer after she won the overall championship at the Annual Show and Sale at Athenry Mart yesterday.

Marts: Demand for cattle is still very strong and buyers are not shy about paying exceptional prices for the quality continental animals over 400kg.

THE trade has weakened for plain cattle and for single-punched bullocks, which will not qualify for the second SBP between now and the end of the year.
