Human civilisation is lucky to have escaped a volcanic super-eruption powerful enough to blast it back to the Stone Age, say scientists.

More than 130,000 people have fled the region around the Mount Agung volcano on the Indonesian tourist island of Bali, fearing it will soon erupt.

Fears of an impending volcanic eruption in Bali have prompted more than 120,000 people to flee their homes.

Indonesian authorities have raised the alert level for a volcano on the tourist island of Bali to the highest level, and more than 11,000 villagers have left their homes around the mountain, officials said.
