Gardaí objected to bail being granted yesterday to a 22-year-old man accused of threatening to kill a 14-year-old boy in Cork.

A “menace to society” will start a six-year jail term today for a violent assault on his teenage girlfriend in what the judge described as a despicable offence by a coward and a bully.

A JURY was sworn in yesterday to hear the case against a man accused of having a machete and seriously assaulting another man.
