The wife of a man accused of murdering their 20-month-old son considered committing him to a mental hospital in the months before the killing, a jury has heard.

The wife of a man accused of the murder of their 20-month-old son in an apartment in Clane, Co Kildare two years ago has told his trial that she didn’t want to leave her son alone with him.

A Somalian man denied murdering his 20-month-old son and told gardai the toddler fell twice on the night he was killed, the Central Criminal Court heard today.
