MANCHESTER UNITED have reacted angrily after attempts by French officials to blame the club and their fans for the crowd problems at their Champions League match against Lille.

Manchester United have rejected Lille’s claims that the Premiership leaders were to blame for the overcrowding at Tuesday’s game, claiming that Utd's early distribution of tickets allowed high-quality fakes to be made.

Lille have today blamed Manchester United for the supply of counterfeit tickets which led to apparent over-crowding at Tuesday's Champions League match in France.
