The US is sending two top negotiators to Geneva for direct talks with Iranian officials over Tehran’s nuclear programme.

The Obama administration is asking Congress to hold fire on enacting new sanctions against Iran, to give negotiators flexibility in current nuclear talks.

The US State Department has said it is cancelling a meeting with Russian diplomats on Syria this week.
