The UN ceasefire deal announced today will buy temporary calm, but make the next war between Israel and Tehran’s proxy army inevitable, former Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shalom and some military analysts warned.

An Israeli bomb destroyed a United Nations observer post on the border in southern Lebanon, today, killing four peacekeepers.

A UN observation post was hit by an Israeli airstrike in south Lebanon tonight and there were casualties, a UN spokesman said.

More than 1,600 troops paraded through Dublin today, with President Mary McAleese taking the salute, to mark the withdrawal of Ireland's United Nations force from Lebanon.
