Nama has been accused by US investment firm Pimco of “repeatedly mischaracterising” its role in the controversial sale of its Northern Ireland loan book.

Nama faced fierce scrutiny yesterday amid claims by senior members of the Dáil’s public accounts committee that it should have cancelled a huge sale last year of €5.7bn of Northern loans, codenamed Project Eagle.

Brown Rudnick, the US law firm which advised two bidders involved in the controversial €5.7bn of Project Eagle loans sold by Nama last year, yesterday said it would co-operate with all inquiries into the transaction.

Fianna Fáil has added its voice to that of independent TD Mick Wallace and other opposition TDs in calling for an inquiry into the sale by Nama of a huge bundle of €5.7bn loans to a US equity fund, as more questions were raised yesterday about the transaction.
