Taoiseach Enda Kenny will deliver a graveside oration at the state funeral of Thomas Kent in the Co Cork village of Castlelyons on Friday.

The Government has confirmed the remains exhumed at Cork Prison last June were those of Republican Thomas Kent, who was executed in the aftermath of the 1916 Rising, clearing the way for a State funeral.

An exhumation will take place shortly in the grounds of Cork Prison in the hope of discovering and identifying the remains of War of Independence volunteer Thomas Kent.
