Wall Street finished a back-and-forth session sharply higher today as investors sought bargains while also contending with concerns about the strength of the economy and upcoming corporate results.

Stocks pulled back sharply on Wall Street today after major US banks said they would set up a fund to help bail out the credit markets and as oil prices surged to 86 dollars a barrel for the first time.
