The US Supreme Court refused to block the execution of a woman convicted of two killings, clearing the way for the state’s first execution of a woman in nearly a century.

Iran’s official news agency has said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has criticised Western media for having a double standard in reporting on the case of an American woman facing the death penalty.
