A powerful car bomb blew up outside a Christian Bible society in Karachi today, injuring 12 people, damaging the wall of a nearby church and shattering parked cars.

A British-educated Pakistani militant believed responsible for the kidnapping of American journalist Daniel Pearl was arrested Tuesday and told investigators Pearl is alive, said Karachi Police Chief Tariq Jameel.
