Muammar Gaddafi’s spokesman said today a surrender-by-Saturday ultimatum to the fugitive dictator’s henchmen in his home town would be rejected.

The Libyan rebels' interim government announced it is moving from Benghazi to the capital, Tripoli, another step towards taking control, as bursts of heavy gunfire erupted around what is believed to be Muammar Gaddafi's last stronghold early today.

A Libyan opposition leader says the rebels will accept a UN-demanded ceasefire if Muammar Gaddafi pulls his forces from all cities and allows peaceful protests.
