AN Egyptian appeals court has overturned the convictions of a leading ruling party member and a former policeman sentenced to death for the murder of a Lebanese pop diva.

A CAIRO court sentenced to death an Egyptian tycoon and an ex-cop hitman for the murder last year of the businessman’s former lover, Lebanese pop star Suzanne Tamim.

A property tycoon with ties to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s son was sentenced to death today for ordering the killing of a Lebanese pop star who had been his lover.
