FLEEING medical staff abandoned patients to a raging fire that killed 89 people in a seven-storey hospital in India, officials said.

Six hospital officials have been arrested on charges of culpable homicide after a fire that killed 88 people, Indian police said today.

At least 61 people have been killed in a fire at a hospital in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata, senior officials have said.
