Senior officials say 48 people are dead and more than 300 injured following 13 serial blasts that ripped through cities across India’s north-eastern state of Assam.

Police shot at violent mobs in north-eastern India, killing 14 people and raising the death toll from three days of ethnic clashes to at least 30, officials said today. About 25,000 villagers have fled their homes, they said.
