Hopes were fading today for four miners missing in a US pit after a massive explosion that killed 25 others.

Twenty-five workers have been killed and at least four are unaccounted for after an explosion rocked a remote coal mine in the US.

Crews searching for any sign of six miners trapped for more than three weeks are “hoping a miracle could happen”, a US federal official told lawmakers.
