A lawyer for Lord McAlpine said the former Conservative Party treasurer will be taking legal action against “a lot of people” who linked his name with unfounded allegations of child sex abuse.

The BBC “unreservedly” apologised last night for broadcasting a programme concerning allegations of sex abuse at a children’s home which led to a former Tory party treasurer being wrongly accused.
