A woman has been awarded €13,000 in compensation by the Equality Tribunal after being told she needed to dress less formally and “get down and dirty with the men” during the job interview process with an unnamed suicide prevention organisation.

The Equality Tribunal has awarded a total of €63,000 to a Polish receptionist who, it found, was discriminated against on the ground of gender and race, and then victimised by her employer.

A civil defence unit discriminated against two volunteers, aged in their 70s, by making them retire from the service, the Equality Tribunal has determined.
