McLAREN suffered a miserable day yesterday after Kimi Raikkonen was forced to change an engine while Toyota set the pace in damp practice conditions ahead of Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Eddie Irvine equalled his best qualifying display for Jaguar Racing with a superb sixth place in Monaco and then declared: "That is about as good as it gets."
