Indonesia’s Aceh rebels formally disbanded their armed wing today, fulfilling the next step of a tsunami-inspired peace plan to end one of Asia’s longest separatist conflicts.

INDONESIA sent more paratroopers into Aceh yesterday in a massive offensive to destroy separatist rebels, while world leaders urged Jakarta to restart talks with the insurgents.
