AUSTRALIAN police said yesterday they had arrested four people after foiling a Somali-linked suicide plot to storm a military base in what would have been the country’s worst extremist attack.

Eleven Muslim men accused of being members of a terrorist cell that was plotting a major attack in Australia were today ordered to stand trial under the country’s tough security laws.

An Australian arrested last month for allegedly belonging to an extremist Islamic terror cell underwent training in Afghanistan and met al-Qaida mastermind Osama bin Laden, a police officer told a court today.
