The mother of a teenager murdered and buried by the IRA was left mentally tortured as she tried to convince herself he had run away to marry, an inquest has heard.

IRA Disappeared Brendan Megraw, 22, died of a gunshot wound to the head fired at close range, Dublin Coroner’s Court has heard.

The body of a man believed to be one of the IRA’s Disappeared victims was moved from a bog in Co Meath yesterday as family members looked on.

The top forensic investigator with the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims Remains said “we would like to think we will have some success in this coming year”.
