A community group in Fermoy, Co Cork, has said it is “relieved and delighted in equal measure” that there have been no objections to the planning permission for a new €3.9m school for the town. 

Parents of children at a run-down school have expressed “bewilderment” at an error in a planning application which will lead to another setback in a long-running battle to construct a new building.

Building of a new gaelscoil in a north Cork town is a step closer after it was announced that a site had been identified and approval had been given to transfer the land to the Department of Education.
