A Halloween assault where the victim had his jaw broken is set to cost the assailant €10,000.

A Cork family was terrorised by two men armed with a gun and a meat cleaver who forced their way into their home at night and yesterday one of the raiders was jailed for five years.

Girls making their first confession were sexually abused by a priest who afterwards put his hand on their heads and said: “Your sins are forgiven.”
