ROYAL Dutch Shell has agreed to a $15.5 million (€11m) settlement to end a lawsuit alleging that the oil giant was complicit in the executions of activist Ken Saro-Wiwa and other civilians by Nigeria’s former military regime.

Oil giant Royal Dutch Shell is to pay out $15.5m (€11.1m) to settle a lawsuit over its alleged complicity in the 1995 execution of several Nigerian environmental activists.

One of the most famous protestors against multinational oil companies will be represented at Saturday’s national rally to free the Rossport Five.
