DAVY FITZGERALD, who looks set to be ratified as Clare hurling boss tomorrow night, returned to his roots on Saturday with an impressive display for Sixmilebridge in their SHC semi-final win at Cusack Park, Ennis.

CLARE’S Tony Carmody scored a first-half goal, went off injured minutes later but raised the rafters at the end of this final when he lifted the All-Ireland IHC trophy.

LAST year’s beaten finalists Waterford held off a spirited Clare fightback to book their place in the Munster intermediate hurling championship final on July 22.
