Portsmouth’s latest signing Lauren could make a ready-made replacement for suspended skipper Gary O’Neil on the right of midfield in the Barclays Premiership with Charlton at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth have signed Manuel Fernandes on loan from Benfica and the midfielder could eventually become the club’s record signing at £7m (€10.39m) if he proves his fitness at Fratton Park.

The January transfer window has largely been used as an opportunity for Premiership clubs to tweak or bolster their squads rather than make wholesale changes.
