The business of "Lights, cameras, action!" continues apace as Ireland’s film industry looks to consolidate its profile on the global stage.

Filmmakers in Cork have slammed the region's exclusion from a tax break designed to encourage filmmaking outside Dublin, warning that it could undermine the growth of the film industry in the county and threaten jobs.

A new organisation has been launched to promote Cork as a centre for film and animation production.

THE final credits rolled at the 51st Cork Film Festival last night with more than 30,000 admissions recorded by the organisers over the past eight days.
