A YOUNG rock band called on the people of Cork last night to back them in a live national TV competition next week.

Over 80 DJs are to take part in a two-day music marathon in a bid to raise thousands of euro for a top children’s charity, it was confirmed today.

The Trade and Industry secretary has referred the proposed takeover of Abbey National by Lloyds TSB to the Competition Commission
