Intelligence has been received by Japan indicating that North Korea may be preparing to test launch a short-range missile.

North Korea today said it has no intention of making nuclear weapons and repeated Pyongyang’s position that the stand-off can be resolved through dialogue with the US, officials said.

Inter-Korean talks began in sombre mood today, with South Korea demanding that North Korea should scrap its nuclear weapons programme.
