The sister of a man charged with setting off bombs in New Jersey and New York told police in 2014 that he was getting ready to hit her with a dumbbell and stabbed another brother in the leg when he tried to help her, police reports show.

Ahmad Khan Rahami vowed to martyr himself rather than be caught after setting off explosives in New York and New Jersey and hoped "the sounds of bombs will be heard in the streets", authorities said as they filed charges against him.
