A bus has crashed into a highway barrier in southern India and erupted in flames, killing 42 passengers – many of them burned alive in the inferno, officials said.

An Air India aircraft overshot a runway in Mangalore today, crashing into a gorge and killing all but a few of the 169 passengers on board.

Explosions rocked a packed railway station and crowded Hindu temple today in Varanasi, Hinduism’s holiest city, and at least 12 people were killed and dozens injured, officials said.
