THE Supreme Court has reserved judgment in an appeal that could have major implications for the conduct of trials for membership of an illegal organisation at the Special Criminal Court.

A Dublin man accused of IRA membership gave the minutes of a Sinn Féin cumann meeting to a Special Branch detective who was searching him, the Special Criminal Court heard today.

A senior Special Branch officer told the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today that the Real IRA has carried out 80 terrorist type attacks since October, 1999, the most recent being a bomb attack on Maghaberry jail in the north last month.
